FIREWORKS - to change the world”

During ARTISTS SUMMIT KYOTO I made an inspirational drawing on the board behind us, depicting the core meeting (the centre point) from which 9 people that were present could leave inspired to create their own “summits” to talk about the same issues of how creative imagination can shape the world. The following get-togethers could then further inspire each of those 9 participants to arrange their own meetings.  In this way a chain reaction could follow leading to an explosion of positive thought and exchange that supports the dedication of all who are involved. Fireworks!

I proposed during the summit that at least one participant - IngridMwangiRobertHutter - would take forward this idea. Since I am an artist, instead of organizing a meeting for discussion, I want to make an art project. I intend to invite 9 creative people to contribute their ideas; through interviews, texts, artworks, objects, dance, sound, actions, whatever they need to express their views. I will facilitate the creation of these materials; taking videos, buying the materials etc. Finally, I will appropriate all these materials to make a multi-layered artwork, which will be a installation with video, sound and objects. This means that the participants will agree to generously give their ideas and materials to IngridMwangiRobertHutter, which is already a statement in itself within the art world.

The number 9 has been chosen because it is the highest single-digit number, that symbolizes completeness. This inspiration came from Yook Keun-Byung during the summit. Involving 9 participants therefore represents a maximum effort to reach people. The possible chain reaction of discussion, exchange and ideas could really make that effort extend outward into the world to make a positive, influential difference.
